Are You Praying Today?

Since 1952, we've had a National Day of Prayer.

Say what? Right. It's been around for a while. National Day of Prayer. And surprise! It's today.

A few weeks back, there was a flurry of news and debate about whether this day would be celebrated at all: Christian prayer has been specifically publicized and promoted by the organizers, causing all sorts of ruckus.

While the Freedom From Religion folks aren't too pleased about the prayerful events today and a Wisconsin federal judge deemed it unconstitutional, according to a Gallup poll out today, the majority of Americans are fine with it. Some 57% of Americans support the idea of a National Day of Prayer and 38% say it doesn't matter to them one way or the other. Only 5% are opposed to the idea.

Translation: Most Americans just want to pray on their own and stop being told they should or shouldn't by politicians and judges.
